Resident Evil 9 Trailer thoughts.
Okay… I don’t know how pedantic I want to be about this but… lets start with super pedantic and then tone it down later.
Why is the FBI in charge of this case? Has trust in the BSAA dropped to the point where other agencies are handling potential bio hazard cases? I hope they don’t end the BSAA off screen like they did to Umbrella. I wanted to see Chris investigate the BSAA shenanigans dang it!
They ended Alyssa Ashcroft!! I’m not THAT mad about it, but she is the character they teased the most by having news articles written by her as notes in RE7. I’m just surprised they offed her and took a risk on her daughter.
(Petty side note here, WHERE’S SHERRY, I WANT TO PLAY SHERRY AGAIN Where’s my Sherry and Rose team up!)
Still… I like the new girl, I’m not sure what her boss is thinking sending this super nervous looking baby out into the field, I hope he actually sends her with someone a little more beefy and they get offed and OH NOES now she has to fight her way though this alone, If that happens I withdraw my complaint about her boss not thinking things through.
Ironically, considering the outbreak ties… doesn’t this contradict the outbreak ending? Sure when we look at the ending of RE3 we can be like “Oh it looked worse because of graphical limitations!” But when we look at Outbreak Raccoon City was literally a hole in the ground. And I wonder if that’s gonna be “Oh that was just part of the city not the whole thing!” Or if they’re just gonna pretend there isn’t any contradiction?
Or or or… are they finally gonna make Outbreak?! No, no they’re not T_T
Now I really did like the trailer so I should say some good things right? Right!
I like the slow pacing. I know that with how Resident Evil has evolved its has often become more and more action-y and had to pull it self back several times. Most people blame resi4 for this but lets face it, even 2 (my fave) was faster paced than 1; and 3 introduced dodge rolling so it was always there people. But the slow start of this trailer is gooooood.
Also Grace Ashcroft surrounded by mountains of files and sitting the way she is? Either she’s the office goblin or she’s very very VERY good at her job and I’m thinking it’s the latter (But hey, it could be both, if I’m right about the BSAA falling out of favour maybe no one in the FBI wants these cases and they’re off loading them to the only person who gives a flying monkey.) (Also hello pretty lady.)
I like the balance on Mr Boss. He clearly demands respect, but he also respects Grace, he knows she’s a good analyst but he’s also trying to be gentle when he breaks where the new body was found. He cares enough to be aware that this will he hard for her and breaks the news as kindly as possible in a professional environment.
ALL THOUGH ALL THIS PRISE WILL BE RETRACTED IF SHE’S SENT THERE ALONE MR BOSS JUST SO YOU KNOW.
Also… Gracy is totally upside down here, Maria from Silent Hill 2 anyone? Grace was clearly there when her mom died. Does she just have trauma? Or is it survivors guilt too?
But still… why store her upside down? Won’t that end a person if you keep them like that too long?
Also also… do they want Grace’s blood? Her mother was given daybreak after all. I had always thought that daybreak was just handed out to everyone after the raccoon incident, it’s just all the other ABC viruses were different enough to get past the immunity. But what if wrong there and the blood of anyone who had daybreak (And their kids) are special like Jill’s.
And then we see the city we’re going too, now is this a city built on the edge of the ruins (Why would you build there??!) Or is that the part of the city that survived the blast?
I’m assuming new buildings because if that much of the city survived the bomb never would have ended the outbreak and we’d have a city of lickers….although maybe that’s the entire point of the game.
