IDW Amy and STC Knuckles run into a sheep that Amy thinks she knows but Knuckles actually knows
“Wait… Lanolin?!” Amy gasped.
The sheep girl turned with wide eyes.
“Oh…oh sorry I didn’t mean to scare you its just that you look just like…” Amy trailed off as she realised Lanolin wasn’t staring at Amy but someone over her shoulder.
“Well…” Said Knuckles. “I didn’t expect to see you here, how…?”
“I-I moved to the city after, you know, what happened. I was in Ebony’s coffee shop and she helped me get here. I swear I’m not going to do anything.”
“I didn’t think you were.” Knuckles promised, even taking a step back and holding his hands up palm out wards, well one hand, the other was holding a basket of mushrooms. “You know I never blamed you for what happened right?”
“How could you not?” Lanolin asked upset. “The whole village… and I was the worst! I was so selfish!”
“It was not your fault.” Knuckles insisted softly, reaching forward now to carefully put his free hand on Lanolin’s shoulder. “It was Robotnik and Mesmer no one else’s.”
“But-”
“No. I won’t let you blame yourself.” Knuckles insisted.
“Uh… It might not be my place,” Amy spoke up before Lanolin could continue to beat herself up. “But where I’m from you’re a good person and a big help, so I’m sure that Knuckles is right and whatever happened wasn’t your fault.”
“If you still feel that bad why don’t you help out around the village here,” Knuckles suggested. “I know some of the other people from the Metropolis Zone are having trouble adapting and you came from a small village like Emerald Hill so maybe you can help?”
“Okay.” Lanolin sniffed and nodded. “I’ll do that.”
“Perfect, thank you for your help… Lanolin right?”
Lanolin nodded and jogged off.
“Okay… so what happened between you two?” Amy asked eyes narrowed.
“Huh? Oh I tried taking shelter in her village while I was stranded on the surface for a bit, only Robotnik was testing out some kind of mind control and tricked the whole village into thinking they needed to sacrifice me to some moon goddess.” Knuckles explained as he went back to carrying the basket of mushrooms to the hearth and home. “The lamb was supposedly meant to be the sacrifice before they picked me instead, I’m not sure if she really believed she was going to be sacrificed or if that was a lie but since the whole village was being mind controlled it’s not like it matters.”
“A whole village tried to sacrifice you?” Something in Amy’s voice made Knuckles turn to her concerned only to find himself almost bowled over by an armful of pink Hedgehog. “That’s so horrible!”
“Uh…” Knuckles was stuck with one arm in the air holding onto the basket of mushrooms while he awkwardly petted Amy’s back. “It’s okay, I only got a little singed.”
“What?!”
Knuckles winced at Amy’s volume.
“I’m joking, I was fine.” Knuckles tried again.
“Good!” Amy grabbed the basket from Knuckles and started carrying it for him. “Please tell me you had something good happen while you were doing on the surface.
“Well I did make friends with Rooster shortly after that.”
“Good.”
“After I was accused of trying to kill him.” Knuckles said with a tiny smirk.
“WHAT?”
